What about the darkened stars?

Much attention has been focused in the last two years on the “Blood Moons” of 2014 and 2015, and the Solar eclipse of 2015.  As you probably know, there were two Blood Moons in 2014 and one of two of the 2015 Blood Moons has already been observed. The 2015 Solar Eclipse has also already transpired. This leaves just one Blood Moon left which is scheduled for this September, 2015.

But what I’m puzzled by is there has been no dicussions I’ve heard about the stars. We have just heard about the Moon and the Sun. But Scripture seems to connect the propheciies relating to the Sun and Moon directly to the darkening of the stars.

  • Isaiah 13:10
  • For the stars of the heavens and their constellations will not give their light; the sunwill be dark at its rising, and the moon will not shed its light.
  • Ezekiel 32:7
  • When I blot you out, I will cover the heavens and make their stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give its light.
  • Joel 2:10
  • The earth quakes before them; the heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.
  • Joel 3:15
  • The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining.
  • Matthew 24:29
  •  “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
  •  “And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves,

What do we make of this?  Can the lunar and solar events be separated from within the same prophecies that predict a stellar blackout?

For fellow Maranathans, you are invited to attend my class tonight on English translations–how to pick one, how to use it, and everything else you might want to know about your Bible. Which are literal and which are paraphrases? Liberal or conservative?  Also, you’ll find out what reading grade your Bible was edited for in a practice I call the dumbing down of the Bible.. This class tonight is part of the Bible College class on Why We Believe the Bible, but I feel this topic tonight has broad appeal so I am opening up the class to everyone. We meet from 7 to 9 in Room 208.  The same class is also made available tomorrow afternoon in room 208 from 3 to 5 pm.

WORLD MAP: WHERE THE CHILDREN ARE

Africa must become the Church’s top priority mission field. Close to half the population of Africa’s most populated and fastest growing countries are UNDER 14 years old.
